Jim: Laughter

(no subject)

Player: Blair Sandburg
Fandom: The Sentinel
Prompt: Truth: Have you ever had your heart broken?

A dozen times over. I've always thought it was broken. Every time I broke up with a girl. Every time she told me to get out of her life and told me to leave. My heart's been broken by death and loss and fights and everything that goes along with it. Every time Sam yelled at me I thought my heart was breaking.

I realize now I didn't even know I had a heart until I heard one person say those words back to me when I was certain they'd never say them, never feel them. Now they do and I realize the only time my heart will ever truly break is if they ever leave me.

Prompt: 52.2. Do you have a Valentine?

I do.

I've celebrated Valentine's Day a lot in the past with a lot of different women. That said this is the first time I've ever truly thought of the person I'm with as my Valentine. Before it had been what do I give to make sure she's not mad at me. This Valentine's is the first where I want to do for them, because seeing them smile means more than anything in this world.

MYL 62.1.

A list of reasons why you love Valentine's Day.

- Chocolate
- Candy hearts
- Cinnamon candies
- Cheesy romances on tv
- This first year with things changed between us

Prompt: 51.2 Make plans for Valentine's Day

Blair didn't do a lot in preparation for Valentine's Day. Things were too soon for making a big deal about it all. Or at least Blair was much too nervous to try and make a big deal. So instead he did something simple.

The note was left in Jim's pocket and it only had a single line on it:

You. Me. Home. No phone. No shift. Nothing but you and I.

There would be a lot of candles, food from the local Chinese place and both phones and laptop locked away in the truck. Maybe it wasn't the most romantic of plans but it was perfect for them.

Make your list 61.3

Make a list of ways to spend a snow day.

- Inside by a fire
- At the precinct because there's no snow days for cops
- On stakeout
- Sledding
- Attacking friends with snowballs. Unless that friend is Jim Ellison in which case there's no sneaking up on him.
- Apparently in a cabin fishing because some of those I know are insane.
- Not answering the phone and cuddling.

For Jim Ellison

Work had been easy, it was that night at home that had been hard. It didn't stop Blair from trying. He was polite, no mention of dating or anything of the sort. They'd shared dinner and watched the game. At least they had started it.

About half way into it, when Jim was into the tight score, Blair had announced he was tired and heading to bed. He'd thought about this all day and it seemed the best way to do things, to take the pressure off Jim and make this easy.

So it was when Jim came to bed he would find Blair already in bed. Still dressed in his jeans and tee, boots on the floor beside the bed and his hair partially covering his face. If he wasn't asleep he was doing a damn good job of faking it.

"Despite the common belief of Satanism and demonic possessions, there is little modern evidence within our culture that such cards are more than a tool for unlocking the subconscious mind."

Tenderness in his eyes
